Q: What are the ports that need to be opened in my Firewall to allow teleport to work?
A: TCP port 44176 and 44177. - Go to the Sharing Preference Pane, click the "Firewall" tab.
- Click the New button.
- Select Other from the "Port Name" popup menu
- Type 44176,44177 in the "TCP Port Number(s)"
- and teleport in "Description"
- Click Ok
- Verify it's checked in the list

| You have to go to the Sharing preferences panel, Firewall, click on "New...", select "Other" for Port Name, type "44176, 44177" in the TCP field, "teleport" in the description field, and click OK. |

Very cool!
I have just changed my firewalls on all my computer and started to panic when my teleport stopped working.
Here is the answer and it WORKS!
Thank you.

Could you perhaps get teleport to add these ports to the Firewall for you? It would be a "nice-to-have". |

I think it would be a good idea to include these installation instructions in the install section of the Readme file that comes with your software . . . not just a mentioned in the tech specs.
Anyway: I've put this program on two nearly identicle G4's in my plant with the same OS 10.3.6 on the same subnet, added the two ports on both machines even though one is the host and the other is the slave (I would think you would have to add them to the slave units only), restarted both machines, and I'm still not seeing the slave machine that has "Share this Mac" toggled.
Any ideas? |

I have also input the port information. Thanks, jul, for the graphic, it was very informative. I had originally had two new port names--one for each port.
Anyway, I have my machines configured as seen in the graphic AND I have stealth mode disabled (I read about that in a different post).
Teleport doesn't work unless I disable the firewall on the slave machine prior to activation of teleport. |
